Check out the red piping. I did not notice it in the movie...

I liked the movie but I loved the jackets. Is it a Belstaf? I've read a few posts that Will Smith is partial to that manufacturer.

I'm watching the movie right now and the jacket is awesome. it look like a kind of mariner, very customised. it's a shame we are not able to know more about this jacket.

Looks nice on WS but I couldn't pull that jacket off.

What's the deal with sleeves lately. Seems like the stars in movies nowadays all wear jackets with sleeves that extend beyond the cuff. Guess it's the fashion now but again, I couldn't pull that off (nor would I want to). :?:

Leather jacket (especially moto style) sleeves are supposed to extend beyond the cuff. The only kind of jacket that isn't is a blazer or sport coat.

they are supposed to be a lil longer so they cover when you ride(arms extended)

i think with this jacket it is more a a plot related thing.
i noticed it when i watched the movie, the left arm is almost always covered by the jacket, kind of a hiding of what he does not like (robotics)

atleast thats what i got from it.

Another one of my favorites besides Fight Club and Death Sentence. Any word on this jacket?

That is a cool looking jacket, but I could never pull it off. I could do without the elbow details, as well. Otherwise, it rocks.

I agree, the elbow patches could go. I would be happy to find any black leather jacket with red accents.

Just finished watching the movie for the second time...I absolutely love this jacket. It's amazing that it's slipped under the radar of a lot of jacket fans. Perhaps the movie doesn't have the cult following that other films have. The colour and styling make this garment quite unique....it would be very interesting to see this faithfully created but I imagine it would be very expensive due to the high level of detail involved.

I too wonder who was responsible for the original.

Yeah I pretty much like the arms and the color of the jacket. I wish it was a little more snug near the waist and the collar taken down a bit. I could possible deal with it but its a little bulky around the mid section.

The detail in the shoulders and arms are awesome though.

Hm, A red base with heavy hand-weathering. The black topcoat was obviously designed to be removed to show the red-base underneath. I like the jacket, but me personally would like to see it as a longer trench, hitting at the knee. As for the piping, I see no real leather piping, it seems to be more of the folded seams and then distressed to bring out the most unnatural pimp-red color 8-) than actual piping material, to give it what piping's job would do make the seams/lines of the jacket stand out. I think it would be one for Indy to try his hand at. Kindof a challenge for him I guess

Oh the zippers that are used tell me it's NOT a Belstaff, most likely an inhouse design :)

This is a nice jacket but Will Smith is swimming in this thing.

It's at least one or two sizes too big. But the costume designer may have beem going for that "hip hop" oversized jacket look.
